Natural Building Education
A Revolution is Building
Cobitat has been teaching natural building classes in the US and abroad since 2010. Check out our workshops, browse our photos, read our reviews, and reach out with any questions.
Cobitat is featured on “ArtEffects” on PBS Reno! Watch the episode on July 12th.
Join us at Jenn’s house in Reno, NV to learn how to build a cob oven. This one day class will get us about 80% of the way to a complete oven leaving the plastering and making of a door for another day. We’ll make the cob ring, the insulation layer, lay the fire bricks, build the sand dome form, pile up oven cob, and add the slip-straw insulation layer on top. Building an oven provides a great overview of a variety of natural building techniques.
$10 off for former students, $10 off/pp for multiple students
A full day of plastering basics and practice on a 50’ straw bale wall.
We’ll make and apply a base coat using local clay soil and chopped straw.
A full, hands-on day of learning about the materials and techniques for building with natural materials. A pizza party dinner using our cob oven finishes the class at night.
