We teach Natural Building & Permaculture for a changing world

We love teaching and we're grateful that so many people are interested in transforming their lives, seeking the skills to start a project of their own, and changing the future.

Learn about our Workshops

We offer several different types of workshops each year from the Versaterra Weekend to complete cabin builds over five or six weeks. We’re based in Nevada but teach throughout the US and abroad.

We’re proud of what and how we teach and have developed systems that effectively share a complete approach to earthen and natural building. If you’re thinking about starting your building journey or going deeper with Cobitat, read some of the feedback we’ve received.

Meet our Teachers

Meet Kyle, Kathleen, Katy, & Jonathan and learn about our VersaTerra approach to natural building and our practical take on permaculture.

Cobitat is the natural building spinoff of the Be the Change Project, an award-winning urban homestead. We’re partners with House Alive! Natural Building.

People have been building with earth for millennia across the globe. Earthen building is suitable for most climates, sustainable, non-toxic, durable, and the materials infinitely recyclable. It’s both a timeless way of building and eminently appropriate for our time.

About Our Name, COBITAT

Cobitat is a combination of Cob and Habitat. Cob is a Welsh word meaning loaf or lump and it’s the term we use to describe the mixture of clay-rich soil, sand, and straw with which we build.

Habitat is the place where we make our home and through the practice of permaculture extends into our yards, our neighborhoods, our community, our watershed and beyond.
